A family in our church has been asked to pray about joining a church planting team in a restricted Islamic nation in Central Asia.
(A restricted nation is a country where government policy or practice prevents Christians from obtaining Bibles or other Christian literature. Also included are countries where government-sanctioned circumstances or anti-Christian laws lead to Christians being harassed, imprisoned, killed or deprived of possessions or liberties because of their witness).
This family will be traveling there for two weeks to meet the team that they have been invited to join and to visit several cities in the country. They will also be visiting a neighboring country to spend time at a church that is part of our movement that has been planted there. Their goal in this trip is to first of all confirm that this is the Lord’s will for their family to serve there long term. Secondarily, they will be spending time with the team from another mission organization to determine whether or not they will be able to serve and work alongside them or if it would be better to return to the country and work independently, starting a new work in a new area. This is their tentative schedule for the time that they will be gone. Please remember to be praying for them.
Monday, June 10th – Leave for restricted Central Asian country. This nation is over 90% Islamic but there is a small community of believers that is slowly growing.
Wednesday, June 12th – Arrive in capital city. There we will meet mission team working there and attend their team meeting.
Thursday, June 13th – Tour capital, visiting the international school, language school, and meet with several national pastors. Leave to join other workers one hour west of capital in rural area of country.
Friday, June 14th– Tour western city and meet additional team members.
Saturday, June 15th – Travel to a city in the far south of the country to visit house church with about a dozen believers, all former Muslims. We have been invited to see what the Lord is doing in that region and pray about a work there as the country one hour to the south is predominately Islamic as well and shares similar language and culture.
Sunday, June 16th – join mission team for Sunday worship and picnic in the mountains.
Monday, June 17th – further exploration of western city.
Tuesday, June 18-20th – fly to neighboring country for mission organization’s annual regional conference.
Friday, June 21-23rd – visit capital of neighboring country and spend time with our sister church that is located there.
Monday, June 24th – Fly home.
