Who They Are:
David and Deborah are currently ministering in Northern Russia, in the towns of Salekhard and Aksarka, in the region of Yamal. They have two daughters Abigail, and Selah.
What They Do:
David is planting a Calvary Chapel in Aksarka and circuit teaching throughout other small towns and villages nearby. Their vision is to model how to reach out to those who live in remote areas such as Yamal. Their prayer is that they would see those from Aksarka and other towns continue to spread the gospel amongst those who have never heard in the Yamal peninsula.
Interesting Facts About Yamal:
Yamal is actually translated as “end of the earth”. Many small people groups live here that still live in teepees and are involved in shamanism. One of the people groups we minister to are called the Nenets. They often drink the blood of the reindeer, worship various idols, are given to drunkenness, and have a very high rate of suicide. They look somewhat Asian and live somewhat like the Native American Indians except they live above the Arctic Circle. Their lives are dependent on the reindeer and fish. They only have a few books of the Bible translated into their language. They need your prayers!
- For God to save the peoples of Yamal
- For open doors to share the gospel
- For God to give us His vision on how to reach the people that are so spread out
- For the Holy Spirit to fill those who are believers so that His work would be accomplished through them
- For wisdom in decision making
