For you had compassion on those in prison, and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an abiding one.
– Hebrews 10:34

Touching refugees with God’s love and truth
Refugees resettled in to your community or neighborhood are a unique blessing and privilege God has provided for you. This workshop will help you to understand why God has brought them in to your sphere of influence, a few cultural truths that are essential for connecting with them, and a three-phased method for engaging them with His love and the truth of the Gospel.
Language & Culture: It’s Importance and Our Response
God made himself known to us in the person of Jesus Christ in ways that make sense to us, in a language we can understand. He relates to us personally on the deepest levels. We want to seek to do the same when we minister in cultures that are not our own. In this workshop you will learn why language and culture is vital to foreign missionary work and receive practical advice on how to approach such a grand task for the glory of God.

You may have heard some people say that because the cost of supporting a Western Missionary and their family is so high, it’s better to take that money and invest it in national workers. I’ve personally heard some teachers that are pretty adamant that the Lord no longer needs “Western Missionaries” on the foreign field at all, and I don’t agree with that statement. In this next short clip, I ask the pastors from our #missionsunplugged Conference this question.
Here is the second of six videos we did after our #MissionsUnplugged Missions Conference here at C.C. Philly this past May. In this short clip I ask our speakers what they think the role of the local church should be in sending out missionaries.
After our Missions Unplugged Conference I sat down with our speakers and asked them a couple more questions that people had texted us during our Q & A session earlier that day. (which you can see in full HERE)
Here is the first of six videos where the guys will answer the questions we never got to. My prayer is that this dialogue can be an encouragement to you as you may have had some of these same questions go through your mind. Stay connected to watch the the rest of these!
Just wanted to let everyone know that CC Philly will be having a Missions Conference on Saturday, May 17th from 8:30 to 5:00 pm. The conference is absolutely free, and there is no registration so all you have to do is show up! We have some great speakers this year and will have workshops throughout the day that you will not want to miss. I would encourage anyone who is interested in missions around the world to attend and hear what the Lord is doing and how He may want to use you for the advance of the gospel into the whole world. Other churches are encouraged to attend as well, so invite your friends. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me here at the church.
Tonight I will be heading to Entebbe, Uganda along with Pastor Don McClure and a couple other Calvary Pastors to participate in the first Calvary Chapel East Africa Pastors Conference. We’ll arrive on Tuesday evening and the Conference will continue until Friday. Pastor’s and leaders from Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia will all be in attendance. Please pray that the Lord would refresh their hearts by His Word, worship, prayer, and sweet times of fellowship throughout those four days.
I will try to post some pictures and videos of the conference if I can get a wireless signal. I’m looking forward to my time with these men of God, and I am excited to see what the Lord will do during our time together. Thanks for praying!
We’re getting closer to our annual C.C. Philly Missions Conference! It’s FREE, there is NO REGISTRATION, and we have some incredible speakers from around the world! So with that being said, I have left out any hurdle that would keep you from coming this year! Invite some friends, and come out to hear from full time missionaries about what the Lord is doing around the world. We will have missionaries that represent almost every continent around the globe, and we will also being hosting workshops about serving the Lord (in either a long-term or short-term capacity) in various areas including Africa, South America, Haiti, Europe, and Asia. For more information about some (not all) of our guest speakers click HERE
Every year at this conference the Lord is always so faithful to meet with us and encourage our hearts with what He is doing around the world. At the same time, He also challenges us on the task at hand, and the fact that the Great Commission is not done! In many ways, I feel like it’s the fuel to re-ignite our missions passion for the rest of the year. I would encourage you to make the time to come out on Saturday, May 19th – bring your family if you want, bring a friend, but most importantly, bring an open heart to hear from the Lord! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me.
